41 Students graduate from VTSE

On the 9th of February, This Life held a graduation ceremony at our Vocational Training Centre. 41 students from across Siem Reap province received their certificates for 5th to 6th-generation motorcycle repair.

The program recruits vulnerable young people from across Siem Reap, including orphanages, diversion programs, and the communities where we run other programs

The ceremony was presided over by HE Sok Thol, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Provincial Board of Governors,  Project Manager for Livelihood Enhancement and Association of the Poor (LEAP), and related departments. These included representatives from the Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (DoSVY), Department of Labor and Vocational Training (DoLVT), National Polytechnic Institute of Angkor (N.P.I.A.), Regional Polytechnic Institute Techo Sen Siem Reap (RPITSSR) and Siem Reap Prison.

HE Sok Thol praised the cooperation between This Life and LEAP Project, particularly in empowering young people with the valuable skills they need to support themselves and their families.

HE Sok Thol remarked; “The vocational training skills are critical for young people to help them improve their standard of living. Getting a certificate today confirms your knowledge and capabilities, so please use these for the benefit of yourself, your family, and your community.” He also praised the ongoing efforts of This Life and our collaboration.

“Children in contact with the law receive valuable support from This Life, both inside and outside the prison. This is the result of a great partnership with the government.”

Mr Se Chhin, Deputy Director of This Life, also gave some remarks. He congratulated the students and called for further cooperation to provide further social support services for vulnerable groups. He praised the success of the program so far.

“In addition to teaching vocational skills, the project also provides life skills, education, business mentorship, counseling, and sports activities. These are all essential for helping young people learn both personal and professional skills necessary to be well-rounded people .”
