Sam and Kimchhean graduate from ‘Boys First’ training
Sam and Kimchhean, Vocational Training Project Officers from the This Life Beyond Bars Program, are very pleased to announce that they have successfully completed their ‘Boys First’ Training Course, which has been held over the past 11 months with First Step Cambodia. The course covered strategies and approaches specifically for supporting boys in Cambodia and their families.
As Vocational Training Project Officers, Sam and Kimchhean are mentors and a key source of support for boys in prison. They also work closely with the boys’ families, helping them stay connected and prepare for life beyond bars.
In the Boys First course, Sam and Kimchhean met lots of good Trainers and 18 trainees from different organisations, with whom they have shared many experiences over this time. They have both received a graduation certificate from the training and are waiting for their full results within the next 2 months. If they receive a score of A+ they will be able to attend a further training course, provided by First Step Cambodia, free of charge.
“Having completed this certificate I have gained lots of knowledge and skills that I can apply when working with the vocational training boys and their families. I can also can advocate to communities about boys sexual abuse. Thank you TLC for supporting us and also First Step Cambodia for providing this valuable and helpful Training”
