This Life Beyond Bars in the Media

TLC is proud to share the feature on the This Life Beyond Bars program published in the Phnom Penh Post’s Siem Reap Insider on August 17 2012.The TLC team is encouraged to see continued media attention to the effects of incarceration on children in Cambodia. Without a juvenile justice system children are tried as adults and often imprisoned in terrible conditions for petty offences. The impact of this is felt throughout their communities. Likewise, the This Life Beyond Bars program efforts are focused community-wide: we work directly with incarcerated children while simultaneously working in their communities to reduce stigma, support their families, and help them have a better chance at a new life upon release.

TLC would like to thank all of our TLBB program donors including AusAID and Lotus Charitable Trust  for their support. The TLBB program will continue to work closely with local prison authorities to improve options for children in prison in Cambodia, their families and their communities.
